Without further ado, let me start off with the top teams and I'll end it with some chatter about other leagues:
1)
My main motivation for starting this blog. I have been following the NY Rangers for as long as I can remember (and more) and they are my number one team in the world. I have probably missed only a handful of games since the 2005-06 season (even while studying in Rome, Italy during spring 2012) and plan on watching their run for the cup this year.
2)
Surprised? Don't be. Even though this blog has been mostly driven by my love for the NY Rangers, how can I write about them while not mentioning their biggest rivals across the Hudson. Even though the Devils are a team that I cannot stand to see win, I respect them like hell for they way they have run their organization over the past 20 or years. You'll see me writing about them here (and it wont always be this positive).
3)
As soon as you saw number 2, you had to figure I would include the NY Islanders on the list as well. They're another huge rival of the rangers and I am sure that I'll have things to say about them here and there (again, not always positive). But as soon as reports started coming out last year that they would be leaving Long Island, I suddenly became a fan of theirs. No, not in terms of rooting for them to win on the ice - but in terms of keeping them in NY. The Islanders-Rangers history has been too epic and fun to suddenly end it because a bunch of senior folks refused to vote "yes" for a brand new arena on Long Island that would possibly increase taxes, but help the community in the long-term. Either way, good to see them find a new home at the Barclay's Center and keep the biggest NY rivalry alive.
4)
And finally, the rest of the National Hockey League. Basically, the season is starting late (stupid lockout) and my hockey adrenaline is as high as it would be for the start of the playoffs. I am excited about seeing how the season turns out for all teams involved and most of the content on this website will be on hockey. If thats what turns you on, then you found your place for those guilty pleasures. If its not, than give it a shot, maybe I can turn you into a hockey fan.
Other teams to lookout for: Penguins, Flyers, Sabres, Maple Leafs, Canadians, Bruins, Red Wings, Senators, Blues, Kings, Coyotes, Wild, BlackHawks, and pretty much everyone else.
5)
Futbol. Calcio. Pilka Nozna. Soccer. Simple. I love soccer as much as I love hockey. But I have to be brutally honest. It is easier and sometimes more enjoyable to follow and cover the NHL than it is all the soccer leagues in the world. OK, maybe not funner, but easier for sure. Still I love Manchester United and am proud to say they have been my number one team "for as long as I can remember". Juventus has also been on the top of my list but since their demotion due to bribery scandals a few years ago, I lost interest in the Seria A and have stuck to the EPL. But soccer will be a frequent topic of conversation on this website too so, keep an eye out for that.
Other teams to lookout for: Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Fulham, Roma, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and many more.
6)
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the NY Knicks. Loved watching them in '99 especially and remember being heartbroken when they lost to the Spurs (hate them to this day). Since they have struggled mightily over the past decade, it has been hard to be a true fan. With the recent resurgence of this team and the NHL lockout, it has suddenly become enjoyable again to watch the Knickerbockers dominate the rest of the league. Overall, the NHL lockout has sparked my interest in the NBA once again so expect to see some NBA stories from me.
Other teams to lookout for: Nets, Heat, Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Spurs, Timberwolves
7)
I only became an NFL fan over the past couple (by that I mean something like 2 years?). I live in the NY/NJ area so my team of choice is the NY Giants. Am I a diehard? I'll be honest and say "NO, not by any means". But I have grown to appreciate the game of football and how this is probably America's most popular sport (sorry baseball). I'll mention some things here and there about the NFL, especially now that the playoffs are underway, but don't expect too much input from me.
Other teams to lookout for: Jets, Broncos, Eagles, Ravens, Patriots, 49er's, Cowboys
8)
Extreme Sports including baseball. So the MLB did not get it own spot here on my website, but I really am not a baseball connoisseur, or even close to it. I'll mention it if something big happens (steroids, huge games, NY Yankees) but it will probably not get much coverage from me. I'd say extreme sports - such as snowboarding or Biking - might even get more coverage than baseball and thats a compliment because because I love those sports, but they don't have any major following in the world, and especially in the states.
